The Harbin Institute of Technology is directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China and is directly under the central government. It is ranked among the first batch of 985 projects, 211 projects, and world-class universities to build colleges and universities, and the nine schools (C9). The school was founded in 1920. In 1951, it was identified as one of the two model universities in the country to study foreign higher education mode. In 1954, it entered the first batch of six universities in the country (the only one outside Beijing). The first graduate of New China was directly awarded the title of Engineer and the three-year graduated science and engineering university. In 1996, he entered the first batch of key universities in the national “211 Project”. In 1999, it was identified as one of the first “985 Engineering” universities in the country to be built according to the world-renowned high-level university goals. In 2000, it merged with Harbin University of Architecture, which is homologous to the same root, to form a new Harbin Institute of Technology.
As of May 2018, Harbin Institute of Technology has three campuses: Harbin, Weihai and Shenzhen; the campus area of the headquarters is 5122.35 mu, and the construction area is 2.0269 million square meters; there are 3,045 full-time teachers and 46,138 students.
